Jaw Bone Bumps After Jaw Surgery
One of the side effects of my corrective jaw surgery are the bumps on my jaw bone. They look very unnatural and weird.
I was not told of this issue before my surgery. I was told my face would swell up and my nose could become wider. I was definitely not prepared for these bumps on my jaw bone and the prospect of getting another round of surgery to flatten them if they do not flatten naturally after 6 months.
I started noticing these bumps a 1 month after my double jaw surgery. When my face was more swollen, the jaw bone bumps were not obvious and I didn’t notice them.

The photo above was taken a night before my 2nd jaw surgery!
Yes, I decided to remove the titanium plates and screws on my upper jaw and my oral and maxillofacial surgeon has booked me for this surgery on 4 May 2011. He is also removing the bumps on my jaw bones at the same time. Let’s hope I can get this over and done with.

I can’t really tell much of a difference between weeks 10 to 12 because my photos are not that great. I did not take them at the same angle and you can’t really see any difference. In fact, I think the week 12 photos made me look like the bump on the right side has gotten bigger.

6 Weeks Post-Jaw Surgery: Right Jaw Bone Bump!
One of my first photos of my jaw bone bumps was taken during week 6. At that time the right side was extremely protruding and you couldn’t miss it.
