19 Days After My Jaw Surgery: Pimple Breakout

This post was written on the 30th of August 2010 because I was too busy to write it the day before. I had a pretty good Sunday even though I spent the whole day at home. I wanted to go out to my friend’s vegetarian magazine launch event but I didn’t think I was able to endure the 30 minute + bus journey due to motion sickness.
I’m almost at my halfway mark before my oral & maxillofacial surgeon removes the wires that are keeping my upper and lower teeth tied together. I really miss being able to smile, laugh out loud, spit, eat solid food, sing and shout. I will saviour the moment I regain these abilities 3 weeks from now.
Swelling is Not Coming Down As Fast As I Hoped
I have seen other people who seemed to have 80% of the their swelling gone by the end of 2 weeks. I am 2 days before my 3 week mark but my right side is still larger than the left side. On a positive note, I am pleased that my bruising is almost 90% gone.
My neck feels a lot better now. I feel like I have regained more control over it and I can move my head around without a lot of effort. Getting up from bed and sleeping is a lot easier but I still don’t like using a pillow for support.
Pimples On My Numb Areas
I am getting pimples on the areas where I feel numb – jaw line, above the upper lips, neck and below the lower lips. I am glad they are tiny pimples but they sure look ugly and I would like them gone as soon as possible. I am not sure why this is happening.
My Vampire Look
My face feels really dry and pale at the moment. I think I look sick and tired but this look is in fashion with the popularity of vampire shows. I know I have not been eating as much as I should but I really don’t want to force myself to eat when it is such a hassle. I am sticking to soups, ice-cream, juices, blended vegetables and blended biscuits.

If you look closely, you will see the pimples I mentioned earlier. See those tiny red dots on my neck in the right profile photo and on my left jaw line in the left profile photo. I wonder how I will look when the swelling is 100% gone. I think I look 90% normal right now and I no longer frighten myself or anyone else.

Oh you poor thing, it looks painful! Maybe after the surgery it made you skin in that area more sensitive and hence more prone to pimples. I hope you are all healed up now
