8 Days After My Jaw Surgery

I had a bowl of instant cream of mushroom soup last night and I enjoyed it very much. It was a nice break from the juices and energy drinks I was drinking.

This morning I become more adventurous. I wanted to see if I could drink from a cup and I could. I guess I could have done that yesterday or earlier but I didn’t try it.

The Art of Using a Syringe to Eat & Drink8 Days After My Jaw Surgery

Apart from drinking from a cup, I have also improved the way I use the syringe. A lot of tiny bits of food gets stuck on my braces and wires, which causes a blockage. There are tiny gaps between my upper and lower front teeth, just enough for liquid to pass through. I have to make a sucking action in my mouth to be able to get the liquid to the area behind the teeth so that I can swallow it.

If this tiny area gets blocked, there are 2 more places where I could squeeze food into my mouth and down my throat – The left and right side of my mouth has more space to flush down the liquid food. I only discovered that today. How stupid of me!

Using the Philips HR2094 750w Aluminium Chrome/Black Blender to Create Smoothies8 Days After My Jaw Surgery

I should have purchased a blender that can create smoothies before my jaw surgery. My friend introduced this blender to me and I went out with my Mum to get one. At SGD $139, I think it is rather pricey compared to other blenders but this is a pretty powerful blender.

I need my food to be like smoothies. I want the seeds and pulp of my fruits to blended into a smoothie so that I can drink it easily. This blender will make my meals a lot more tasty and nutritious.

I am not sure how I got by with cheaper blenders. I almost wanted to buy the Blendtec blender, which can blend stuff at 1500W but it costs almost SGD $1000. The Philips HR2094 blender generates 750W of power and it should be enough for my vegetables and fruits.

Since I am a vegetarian, I am sure I will be able to experiment with more raw food with this blender. I like my food to taste natural and that is why I did not purchase any protein shakes. They taste artificial and I am concerned about what they put into the drinks.

Blended Food Never Tasted So Good!

The first thing I blended with my Philips HR2094 blender was a tomato with instant tomato soup. I put the whole tomato into the blender and added the soup into the blender to mix it up. The tomato soup actually had tiny bits of vegetables and croutons in it. After a couple minutes of blending, I thought the soup was ready for me. In hindsight, I think I should have added some olive oil and waited a couple minutes more before serving.

Next, I blended some carrots with some tofu soup my Mum made. It tasted okay but I still like the Western-styled soups more because they taste more natural to me.

I had a nice Taiwanese jelly desert in the evening. I wish I could eat it in its original form but I can’t swallow the jelly. I blended it in my blender and it tasted really sweet and sour, just the way I like it.

I’m Getting Forgetful…

I thought my medical appointment was this afternoon but it is actually tomorrow. I was actually getting ready to leave until I saw the date on my appointment card and it read 19 August 2010. Oh well, I’m still feeling a bit dizzy and weak so I guess this is normal.

My Medicine is Running Out

I should be off my antibiotics within 2 days. I hope to slowly wean off my pain killers too. I am taking 2 pain killer tablets per day and it helps to relieve a minor pain and irritating in my mouth. I’m not sure if my doctor will give me medicine because I hate taking them. I have to put my tablets into a cup of water to dissolve it before I can take. As you know, paracetemol tastes really bitter and it leaves a bad taste in your mouth.

Why is My Right Side Still Swollen?

I think the swelling and bruising on my right side has gone down slightly. I wish it could go down as soon as possible. My left side is almost 70% healed but my right side is only about 50%? I get stares from people when I go out and I hope this will end soon.

Photos & Videos Pages Are Up

I finally got my photos and videos pages up. When I launched this web site on the day before my jaw surgery, I knew I didn’t have enough time to complete all sections of this web site. I didn’t care. I just wanted to get it going instead of trying to perfect it. I shall improve it little by little over time.

I think I look like a fat person if you don’t see the rest of my body! I think my swelling is quite average and my bruising is actually quite mild compared to some other people. I have seen photos of others with bruises underneath their eyes!
