41 Days After My Jaw Surgery: Eating is Still a Struggle

I had my wires removed 4 days ago so I just regained my ability to chew. I still find it difficult to chew because my jaw muscles are still tight and inflexible at the moment. I can only make enough space in between my teeth to fit my index finger.

I take a very long time to finish my food and it has to be cut up into tiny bits and pieces before I can eat them. If it is too big, I can’t even squeeze it into my mouth. Because of this, I find it quite a hassle to eat but life is a lot easier today than it was in the past 5 weeks or so.

I feel pretty good now that I have been eating more. I don’t feel so weak and tired any more. I can speak properly now and I don’t look too puffy.

Some people say I look younger now compared to how I looked before my corrective jaw surgery. Personally, I like my new look more than my previous look.

I need to get a new passport with a recent photo of me made as soon as possible. I also need to get a new national ID card with a new photo of myself made. I want to get them done this week so that I can travel without any complications. It would be a nightmare if I were ever stopped at the customs because I don’t look like the person on my passport.

Tomorrow is week 6! Time flies and I can’t believe I have been through so much since my jaw surgery. I hope to regain the full motion of my jaws within a month so that I can start eating normally.
